A dental implant is a threaded titanium post, which is surgically placed in to the jaw to replace missing teeth. This 'post' integrates with the bone (which takes 3-6 months) and provides support for individual crowns, bridges or loose dentures. The cosmetic and functional results are as good as natural teeth and can last for many years. Implants have been used successfully to replace missing teeth for that last 40 years.
